The following outlines notification received about their Beacon:

“Lighting the Muncaster Beacon is planned for 10pm on the evening of the 2nd June on the highest point in the Deerpark ( the hill between Muncaster Gardens and Ravenglass.

This will be a free to attend event for locals if any wish to come. But we suspect many may wish to watch the National celebrations at home on TV. If people do wish to attend they will be very welcome. They can either walk up from the village or park at the Main Gate car park and walk through the gates, past the info Centre down the public footpath leading to Decoy Wood but turn off left along the track and then climb up to the beacon point on the hill.

We would encourage everyone attending to bring a torch and wear sensible shoes. I think folk should be encouraged to assemble there from 9.30pmish. We may have some refreshments on sale but if people want to bring something suitable to toast her Majesty at 10pm that should be fine.

From that height we should be able to see other beacons in the area.

We don’t expect the beacon will burn for long and expect by 10.20pm or so it should be all over.”
