Due to the resignation of Councillor Martin Harrison, Muncaster Parish Council has a vacancy for a new councillor.

NOTICE OF VACANCY
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, in accordance with Section 87 (2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that two casual vacancies have arisen in the office of Parish Councillor in the Parish of Muncaster, following the resignations of Councillor Martin Harrison.
An election to fill the vacancy will be held, if within fourteen days1 of the date hereof notice in writing of a request2 for such an election is given to The Returning Officer, Civic Centre Rickergate, Carlisle, CA3 8QG by ten electors of the Parish of Muncaster.
If no such notice is given, Muncaster Parish Council may fill this vacancy by co-option.

- There is no form of words for this request, which might simply be a letter headed with such words as “We the undersigned being electors for the Parish, call for an election to fill the vacancy arising from the resignation of ….” The signatures should be accompanied by printed names and addresses.
